LECTORS
A lector is a commissioned liturgical minister who proclaims the Word of God. A candidate is required to be a Confirmed Catholic in good standing, and if married, be married within the Catholic Church. With the pastor’s approval, training in the parish or in diocese is required. Once commissioned, a lector prepares by reading the bible, lector workbook, and other resources as well as by contemplative prayer and reflection of the readings. To be a lector is to nourish the congregation with the Word of God.
